1941

 

Born in Trpišov, East Bohemia.

1958-1963

 

Study and graduation at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Pardubice (MSc) in the field of organic technology.

1964-1968

 

PhD study at Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals, Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, Prague. PhD degree received in the field of organic technology, specialization heterogeneous catalysis in gas phase. Title of thesis: Study of the dehydrogenation of secondary alcohols on metal catalysts.

1969

 

Three months stay at University of Caen, France. Application of mass spectrometry to heterogeneous catalysis.

1970-1972

 

Three semesters teaching as visiting professor at the Central University of Venezuela, Caracas. Classes, postgraduate courses, fundamental research in catalysis, kinetics and petrochemistry.

1972-1980

 

Heterogeneous catalysis by metals and metal oxides in liquid phase, oxidation, addition.

1981-1992

 

Homogeneous catalysis by transition metal complexes. Addition reactions involving free radical intermediates, kinetics, structure-reactivity relationships, asymmetric catalysis. Development of new synthetic routes and new processes for speciality chemicals.

1992

 

Starting the application of microwave power in organic synthesis and catalysis.

1998

 

Organizer of the First International Conference on Microwave Chemistry, Prague, 6-11 September.

Research Scientist at ICPF, AS CR, Prague. Environmental Process Engineering Laboratory. Microwave activation of chemical reaction, microwave catalysis, microwave photochemistry and photocatalysis, material processing and development of new industrial processes.

Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis, Application of Microwave Irradiation in the Catalysis, Material processing (glass, basalt, paper) and development of new industrial processes (PET recycling).
