The 5th IMACS Conference on Mathematical Modelling and Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering, in honour of Professor Owe Axelsson's 80th birthday

Title

June 2 - 6, 2014 Roznov pod Radhostem,   Czech Republic

Modelling 2014 aims to be a forum for an exchange of ideas, insights and experience in different areas of mathematical modelling - from numerical methods and computer aspects to applications of mathematical modelling methods. This international conference belongs to a series of conferences held in Roznov 2009, Pilsen 2005, Pilsen 2001, Prague 1998.

Main topics topics include computational modelling in engineering and science: multiscale modelling, multiphysics modelling, progress in discretization methods, efficient solvers, nonlinear problems, reliable computations, challenging applications of mathematical modelling methods, exploiting massively parallel computing facilities.

The conference will be comprised of invited and contributed lectures and special sessions / minisymposia, include

  • Iterative solution methods and efficient solvers
  • Nonlinear mechanics, plasticity and damage modelling
  • Error estimates, adaptivity and reliability
  • Global Earth models
  • Modelling of termo-hydro-mechanical processes in geomaterials
  • HPC, algorithms for massively parallel computations, codes and applications
  • Environmental modelling

The organizers are still open for further suggestions.

Selected reviewed papers will be published in a special issue of the journal Mathematics and Computers in Simulation (Elsevier, IMACS).

The conference is organized by the IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence, Institute of Geonics AS CR, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava and International Association for Mathematics and Computers in Simulations (IMACS). The organization is supported by the project Reliable mechanics (SPOMECH, CZ.1.07/2.3.00/20.0070) and the final conference of the SPOMECH project is a part of this event. The SPOMECH project is supported by the ESF and the government of the Czech Republic.
