Ing. Karel Klusáček, CSc., MBA

Karel Klusacek is a MS graduate of the Institute ofChemical Technology inPrague (1973). He received his PhD from theAcademy ofSciences in Physical Chemistry (1978) and his MBA from theBusinessSchool of the Sheffield Hallam University, UK (1998). After 15 years of research in Chemical Reaction Engineering at theAcademy ofSciences, Mr. Klusacek was appointed Director of the Technology Centre AS CR. His main professional interests include foresight, identification of research priorities and technology assessment. He is Czech deputy delegate to the European Research Area Committee (ERAC) of the European Commission and member of its Expert Group on Joint Programming, member of the Czech Engineering Academy and member of the Editorial Board of the „International Journal of Foresight and Innovation Policy“. He has recently coordinated several international and national projects in the area of technology transfer, foresight, business incubation, knowledge-based competitiveness and regional innovation strategy. Mr. Klusacek coordinates national project of the large research infrastructure “CzechRepublic in European Reseach Area”. He also coordinates several national projects focused on providing strategic information to policy-makers in the area of R&D and innovation.

• Member of the Working Group for preparation of the National policy of reseach and development of the Czech Republic for years 2004-2008 (2002)
• Coordinator of the preparation of a proposal of the National Research Plan I (2000-2001), National Research Plan II (2003-2004), National Research Plan III (2006-2007)
• Coordinator of praparation of the vation Strategy for region of Prague (2003-2004)
• Member of Expert Panels of European Commission for Monitoring of the 6th Framework Programme (2003, 2005)
• Project Leader for preparation of Green Paper and White Paper of R&D and Innovation in the Czech Republic (2007-2008)
• Member of the Working Group for preparation of the National policy of reseach, development and innovation of the Czech Republic for years 2009-2015 (2008-2009)
• Chairman of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (2009-2011)
• Leader of methodological and executive team for proposal National priorities of oriented research of the Czech Republic 2030 (2011-2012)
