Dr. Tomáš Hromádka of the Department of Auditory Neuro-science at the Institute of Experimental Medicine of ASCR does not see that coming any time soon.
This department’s primary research objective is oriented towards investigating the structure and function of the auditory system in animals and man under normal and pathological conditions and during ontogeny and aging.
Optogenetics is Dr. Hromádka’s chief research interest. This is a neuromodulation technique employed in neuro-science using a combination of techniques from optics and genetics to control and monitor the activities of individual neurons in living tissue (even with animals) and to measure precisely the effects of those manipulations in real-time.
