Acanthocinus hispanicus, an endemic Spanish species described by Gianfanco Sama and Peter Schurmann [❖], is very close to
Acanthocinus henschi, but different from it in several characters: a
long rib missing on the base of the elytrae, denser and lighter pubescence of the whole body or more pronounced protuberances on
the disc of the pronotus.

Host plant: | pines (Pinus pinea, Pinus silvestris, Pinus halepensis) |
Distribution: | an endemic species to Spain [✧] |
The depicted beetle was reared from larva found in dead pine in Barracas (NE Spain).
