According to Martin Rejzek et al. [❖] the host plants of Phytoecia (Neomusaria) merkli are Salvia sclarea (Lamiaceae), Salvia cf. tomentosa (Lamiaceae), and another still undetermined Lamiaceae plant.

Adults in:	May - July
Host plant:	oligophagous on Lamiaceae (e.g. Salvia spp.)
Distribution:	Armenia, Syria, Turkey

The depicted beetles in the were collected on Salvia sp. in summit plateaus of Nemrut Dagi Mt. (Adiyaman prov., Anatolia, SE Turkey).
