The depicted living beetle was collected overwintering in a pupal cell under the bark of a dead standing oak (Quercus petraea) in Kohoutov Mt. (Křivoklátsko UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Central Bohemia, Czech Republic). The mounted beetle was reared from larva collected under the bark of a dead standing oak (Quercus robur) in Libice (Central Bohemia, Czech Republic).
