The short course An ECCOMAS Advanced Course on Computational Structural Dynamics covers topics relating to modern and recent numerical methods in computational structural dynamics, finite element method in linear and nonlinear dynamic cases, wave propagation in solids and its numerical solution, numerical methods in dynamic contact problems, buckling analysis, modern methods for direct time integration and partitioned analysis, modal and spectral analysis, coupled problems (e.g. fluid-structure interaction), reduction modelling in dynamics and many others. »»»
The 2nd International Conference on Advanced Modelling of Wave Propagation in Solids aims to bring together scientists and engineers with interest in advanced modelling of wave propagation in solids. The Conference on Advanced Modelling of Wave Propagation in Solids will concentrate on topics related to analytical, numerical and experimental studies of linear and non-linear waves in conventional, advanced and modern materials like metamaterials and auxetic materials, to strongly dispersive wave propagation in inhomogeneous solids and to waves in materials with microstructure, etc. Attention will also be devoted to up-to-date formulations of non-linear constitutive equations in the description of material response under thermomechanical loading, dynamic fracture and damage, phase transformations, shock waves, and to dissipative effects. »»»
The aim of the Colloquium is to facilitate the exchange of up to date information and knowledge among specialists in structural and multibody dynamics, in coupled interacting systems as aero-elasticity, hydro-elasticity, bio-mechanics, systems with feedbacks and mechatronics. The papers and its presentations will be divided into the three sections and focused on the next problems: »»»
On behalf of the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam (IAPWS) the Czech Society for the Properties of Water and Steam (CZPWS) is organizing the 17th International Conference on the Properties of Water and Steam (17th ICPWS), taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from Sunday to Friday 2 – 7 September 2018. »»»
Splitting of the strain energy into its “non-membrane” and membrane percentage provides insight into the load-carrying mechanism of structures, subjected to proportional loading. It may be useful, for example, for sensitivity analysis of the initial post-buckling behavior of beams, arches, plates, and shells, and assemblies of such structures. The task of this work is to determine this percentage without computing insignificant numbers such as the values of the strain energy and its membrane part. »»»
Energy Industry in a Broader Context is a collaborative workshop involving scientists, power industry leaders and government officials to outline the future of the energy industry and discuss how energy technologies and the upcoming transition of the energy industry influence the environment, economy, public health, or public acceptance. The purpose is to debate the risks, constraints and opportunities for research of energy technologies of the future. »»»
