Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v.v.i., offers a postdoctoral position under the project:

Study of electron transport in electrochemically controlled molecular switches

The aim of the project is finding charge transport characteristics of electrochemically and chemically addressable molecular switches with non-interacting centers by break junction techniques under electrochemical conditions.

General requirements:

• Ph.D.  degree in physics or chemistry (experience with temperature resolved electrical measurements at the nanoscale is welcome)
• Maximum age of the applicant is 35 years
• Experience in writing scientific papers and presenting results at conferences is required
• Advanced level of written and spoken English
• Competencies necessary for team-work

Research position in more detail:

The applicant will investigate charge transport characteristics of functional organic molecular conductors and switches at the single molecule level by the break junction technique within the configuration of scanning tunneling microscopy. The work will be potentially complemented by current-voltage spectroscopic and thermopower measurements aimed at exploring the energetics of single molecule junctions.
