Born in Nový Jičín, North Moravia.

1987-1992

 

Study and graduation at the Prague Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Faculty of Chemical Technology. Diploma work in the field of organic chemistry, Fluoroalkyl diols and their derivatives.

1992-1996

 

PhD study at ICT, Department of Organic Chemistry. Title of thesis: Fluoroalkyl derivatives of hydroxy compounds and ether, under supervision of Prof. O. Paleta.

1993

 

Six months stay at Ecole Nationale Superieure de Chimie, Laboratoire de Chimie Macromoleculaire, Montpellier, France. Organic synthesis of fluoro compounds under the supervision of Prof. Bernard Boutevin and Dr. Bruno Ameduri.

1996-1998

 

Research Assistant at the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals (ICPF), Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic. Organic and Microwave Chemistry.

1997

 

Chemistry Prize - Rhône-Poulenc / French embassy.

1997

 

Three months stay at Université Paris-Sud, Laboratoire des Réactions Sélectives sur Supports, Orsay, France. Microwave organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. André Loupy.

1998-2000

 

Two years postdoctoral stay at University of Wisconsin, Department of Chemistry, Madison, WI, USA. Exploratory organic photochemistry under the supervision of Prof. Howard E. Zimmerman.

Alfred Bader Prize for young Czech organic and bio-organic chemist.

Chemistry of Fluorine Compounds, Preparation of Biocompatible Materials with Perfluoroalkyl chains, Application of Microwave irradiation on the Photoreactions, Synthetic and Exploratory Organic Photochemistry, Chemistry of Persistent organic pollutants.

 

RESEARCH EXPERIENCES

Extensive experience in traditional methods of synthesis, separation, purification and analysis of organic compounds including multistep preparations; kinetics by various methods; handling of air-, moisture- and light-sensitive compounds; various photochemical techniques: direct/sensitized photolyses, microwave photochemistry, preparation of electrodeless discharge lamps.
