According to M. Rejzek et al. [❖] in Turkey Phytoecia (Coptosia) compacta sancta develops in Anchusa italica (Boraginaceae).

Body length:	8 - 12 mm
Life cycle:	1 year
Adults in:	May - June
Host plant:	Italian bugloss (Anchusa italica)
Distribution:	Israel, Jordan, Syria, Turkey

The depicted beetles were collected in Slinfah E Latakia, NW Syria on a the host plant.
