Job description:

The Research and development specialist/Technician will work in the research team of Dr. K. Macháčová investigating the exchange of important greenhouse gases (methane - CH4, nitrous oxide – N2O, carbon dioxide – CO2) from different tree species and forest ecosystems. The technician will support the research activities of the team.
The working tasks will include i.a. production and repair of chamber measurement systems, their installation, testing and service in the field, development and testing of new system prototypes, purchase of materials, active participation in field measurement campaigns in the Czech Republic and abroad, operating and service of analysers, data processing, basic laboratory activities, logistics, organisation, and assistance to the head of department.

Requirements:

- at least secondary school degree qualifying for university admission (so called “maturita” in Czech Rep.); technical background
- University degree (Msc., Ing.); technical, biological, chemical or environmental background - welcome
- Reliability and responsibility
- Time flexibility (regular and irregular field work – i.e. irregular working time, participation on longer field campaigns - up to couple of weeks in row in the Czech Republic and abroad)
- Manual and technical skills, high sense of improvisation, self-dependent solving of technical problems
- Organisation skills
- Team player
- Good physical condition, without fear of heights
- Willingness to learn new methodological procedures, ability to ask for help (We do not look for a superman.)
- Internal motivation (positive attitude to science and research)
- Good computer skills (MS Office), basics of programming very welcome
- Knowledge of English at communication level, knowledge of Czech welcome
- Driving licence of B level
