The Building of the Year 2015: HiLASE receives the Special award from the President of the Senate

The HiLASE laser center situated in the village of Dolni Brezany was awarded in the 23rd edition of the Building of the Year Awards. The Special award from Milan Štěch, the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, was given by Mr. Zdeněk Škromach, the Vice-president of the Senate. The trophy was taken over in the Bethlehem Chapel by the Director of the Institute of Physics, Mr. Jan Řídký, by the authors of the HiLASE building Mrs Vladimíra Leníčková, Mr. David Leníček, Mr. Robert Leníček and the deputy contractor Mr. Petr Ovčáček.

The President of the Senate of the Parliament said about the HiLASE building: „It is a significant modern building, but it does not disturb the overall character of the village, on the contrary, it provides a useful complement. Moreover, the attention was devoted to the greenery. I also like the purpose of the building, which is the development of science and research based on broad international cooperation. I believe that it is a very meritorious and ambitious project led by the Academy of Sciences and I wish HiLASE a lot of success. "

Each year the trophy Building of the Year goes to new or renovated buildings, implementation of urban public space, landscaping, residential buildings and commercial buildings, transport and civil engineering as well as specific construction works. The Foundation for the Development of Architecture and Construction is the organizer of this prestigious competition. This year a record number of 72 buildings were registered and a jury narrowed down 15 of the total of 30 selected constructions. The following constructions won the Building of the Year 2015 award: the Comenius bridge in Jaromer, the completion of the primary school in Dobrichovice, the underground complex in the Old Town Square in Mlada Boleslav, the extension at the top of blast furnace -the Bolt Tower in Lower Vitkovice and the buildings restoration in the area of mine Hlubina in Ostrava.
