"Photonics is a field that has a lot to offer," says Professor Jiří Homola, director of the Institute of Photonics and Electronics at the Academy of Sciences
in the article "Ideas how to shine on diseases" by editor Martin Rychlík in Lidové noviny.
Jiří Homola, director of IPE CAS, talks about contemporary science, research passion and the role of happiness in an interview for Czech and Slovak Leaders.
Another part of the CRo Plus series "Summer Scientists" focuses on scientists working on biosensors that can detect serious diseases from just a drop of blood or saliva.
A team of researchers from IPE and developers has designed a new type of fiber laser that will be useful for processing sensitive materials. Its application will be in industry, aeronautics and in the future it could also serve doctors.
Optical Biosensors team organized 10th Advanced Study Course on Optical Chemical Sensors – ASCOS2017: Biochemical sensors in medicine (July 20 - July 27, 2017). ASCOS 2017 was held in beautiful setting of Castle hotel Třešť in Czech Highland region under the support of Czech Academy of Sciences.
Multi-conference SPIE Optics and Optoelectronics was organized at Prague under chairing of Prof. Homola within April 24-27, 2017. President of the Czech Academy of Sciences Prof. Eva Zažímalová welcome all 700 participants at the beginning. In frame of this meeting an excursion to Institute of Photonics and Electronics was organized on April 25 and experiments of preform preparation and drawing of optical fibers was demonstrated.
