Empirical pseudopotential method is used to establish spin polarization of electron and hole Bloch states in non-magnetic semiconductor crystals having zinc-blende structure. Analysis of the real-space spin distribution leads to the conclusion that the applied current gives rise to a local spin polarization accompanied by spin-polarized Hall-current densities.
