According to Martin Rejzek et al. [❖] the host plants of Phytoecia (Neomusaria) merkli are Salvia sclarea (Lamiaceae), Salvia cf. tomentosa (Lamiaceae), and another still undetermined Lamiaceae plant.

Body length:7 - 10 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:oligophagous on Lamiaceae (e.g. Salvia spp.)
Distribution:Armenia, Syria, Turkey


The depicted beetles in the were collected on Salvia sp. in summit plateaus of Nemrut Dagi Mt. (Adiyaman prov., Anatolia, SE Turkey).
