Acanthocinus xanthoneurus, described by Étienne Mulsant and Claudius Rey in 1852 from Sicily [❖], is a species of enormous ecological
and biogeographical interest known only from Italian Apennines (from the Tuscany-Emilia Romagna Apennines to Sicily).
The beetles are nocturnal and can be found on dead beeches, where are developing their larvae.

Adults in: | May - June |
Host plant: | monophagous on European beech (Fagus sylvatica) |
Distribution: | an endemic species to the Italian Apennines
(from the Tuscany-Emilia Romagna Apennines to Sicily). |
