Phytoecia (Phytoecia) kabateki has been discovered in Syria by Petr Kabátek and subsequently described by Gianfranco Sama [❖]. This Phytoecia species develops in Ferula hermonis Boiss. (Apiaceae) [✧].

Body length:	8 - 13 mm
Life cycle:	1 year
Adults in:	February - July (depends from the country)
Host plant:	Ferula hermonis
Distribution:	an endemic species to Syria

The depicted beetle was collected in Bloudan (بلودان‎) environs (Antilebanon Mts., Rif Dimashq Governorate, Syria).
