Agapanthia hirsuticornis, rare and endemic representative of Iranian entomofauna close to Agapanthia kirbyi (Gyllenhal, 1817), was described by Carolus Holzschuh in 1975 from one male collected in Mazandaran in 1933 [❖].
Body length: 15 - 23 mm Life cycle: 1 year Adults in: May - June Host plant: undetermined Apiaceae Distribution: an endemic species to Iran
The depicted mounted beetle was collected in Kamyaran (كامياران) environs (Kordestan province, West Iran) on June 2, 2010. The living specimens were photographed by our friends Evgeniy Rutjan (Quazin environs, Iran) and Karel Hodek (Iran).
