The depicted mounted beetle was collected on the host plant (Echium italicum) in Karadut (Nemrut Dagi National Park, Adiyaman prov., Anatolia, SE Turkey). The living one was photographed on the host plant (Echium italicum) in Hasanbeyli (South Turkey).

According to Rejzek et al. (2001) in Syria Oxylia argentata develops in Anchusa italica (Boraginaceae).
