Phytoecia (Neomusaria) salvicola has been described by Carolus Holzschuh from Harput (S of Elazığ, Elazığ province, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey) in 1989.
The species is accociated with Salvia candidissima [❖] and probably also with another Salvia species.

The mounted beetle was collected on the host plant in Harput (Turkey). The living one was reared from larva found in Salvia candidissima collected
in the same locality.
