Deroplia schurmanni is a nocturnal species endemic to El Hierro (Canary Islands). The beetle is oligophagous on various Euphorbia plants (such as Euphorbia balsamifera Ait. or Euphorbia regis-jubae W. & B.).

Body length:9 - 14 mm
Life cycle:1 - 2 years
Adults in:December & September
Host plant:oligophagous on various Euphorbia spp.
Distribution:a species endemic to Gran Canaria, Canary Islands


The depicted beetle was reared from a larva found in a dead branch of Euphorbia balsamifera Ait. in Charco Manso NW Valverde (El Hierro, Canary Islands).
