Zaneta Svabova, a student of the Prague secondary school Na Zatlance, visited the Open Days and as she is interested in science, she took part in the competition “One day with a scientist”. And she got lucky being drawn the winner out of several dozens of participants in the competition. She was offered a choice of six research teams and decided to spend her day in the laboratories of the Optical Biosensors.
During the morning she was guided by Erika Hemmerova who took her on a tour of the team laboratories and explained to her what kind of research the team carried out and which issues it was currently busy with. In the afternoon the winner, together with the scientists, participated in one biochemical experiment that was a part of the project focused on Alzheimer´s disease. “I am very happy I could visit your research laboratories. It was really interesting and enlightening to learn more about the work of the scientists, normally one does not get a chance to be a part of it,” said the winner about her visit. Zaneta Svabova is currently in her last year and has plans to study stomatology.
