Asemum striatum is a common European species developing in coniferous trees (Picea, Abies, Larix, but primarily in Pinus). Larvae feed subcortically, later in the hardwood of dead hosts. It is a crepuscular nocturnal species.

The beetles in the pictures were collected in Stará Boleslav (Central Bohemia, Czech Republic) on a stump of a freshly felled pine tree.
