Body length: 18 - 30 mm Life cycle: 3-4 years, larvae in wood of dead, standing trunks Adults in: May - July Host plant: broadleaf trees especially Populus, Betula and Tilia, rarely also in conifers Distribution: from Europe (Finland, Poland, Slovakia, Balcan peninsula) to China, Mongolia, Korea and Japan
The living beetles, larvae and pupae were photographed and collected in Puszcza Bialowieska (Bialowieza Forest, Poland) by Lech Kruszelnicki. The mounted beetles were collected by R.Čermák in Arsenyev (Ussuri region, Russian Federation).
