Calchaenesthes pistacivora, an endemic Iranian species developing in twigs of Pistacia, was described by Carolus Holzschuh from Sirjan, SE Iran in 2003 [❖]. The species had been reported as a pest in Pistacia orchards in Iran [✧].

Body length:8 - 12 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:April - May
Host plant:Pistacia vera, Pistacia mutica
Distribution:a species endemic to Iran


The depicted beetle was collected on the host plant (Pistacia sp.) by our friend Lech Kruszelnicki 40km NE ad Fasa (Fars province, Iran) on May 8, 2017.
