Agapanthia hirsuticornis, rare and endemic representative of Iranian entomofauna close to Agapanthia kirbyi (Gyllenhal, 1817), was described by Carolus Holzschuh in 1975 from one male collected in Mazandaran in 1933 [❖].

Host plant:undetermined Apiaceae
Distribution:an endemic species to Iran


The depicted mounted beetle was collected in Kamyaran (كامياران‎‎) environs (Kordestan province, West Iran) on June 2, 2010. The living specimens were photographed by our friends Evgeniy Rutjan (Quazin environs, Iran) and Karel Hodek (Iran).
