This beautiful and rare Dorcadion is known from planes of East Azerbaijan. We know only one polupation near Perekeshkiul in Sumgait River Valley (ca 30 km W of Baku), but according the original description the taxon can be distributed also W of Shemakha. [❖]

Body length:♂ 11 - 17.3 mm / ♀ 14.3 - 18 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:March - May
Host plant:larvae feed on roots of various grass species
Distribution:endemic to Azerbaijan


The depicted beetles were collected in Perekeshkiul environs (Azerbaijan) on March 30, 2013.
