Chlorophorus ringenbachi, discovered by Jean-Claude Ringenbach in Libya, was descripted by Gianfranco Sama in 2004 [❖]. This endemic Libyan Chlorophorus species is closely related to Chlorophorus ruficornis (Olivier, 1790) from Southern France and Iberian peninsula and Chlorophorus favieri Fairmaire, 1873 from Morocco.

The 7 known Chlorophorus ringenbachi specimens hatched from the dead part of twigs (2-4 cm in diameter), previously girdled by larvae of Purpuricenus desfontainii. Twigs with larvae were collected in localities of Cyrenaica region of Libya (Ra’s al Hilal and Taknis) in 2004/2005.Collected by our friend Jean-Claude Ringenbach
