Purpuricenus nigronotatus is very rare species known from the West side of Toros Mountains (Antalya province) to the Hatay province. Northwards it reaches the Van lake in Eastern Anatolia [❖].

Body length:10 - 20 mm
Life cycle:2 - 3 years
Adults in:May - July
Host plant:oaks (Quercus spp.)
Distribution:a species endemic to Turkey


The depicted beetle was collected whilst sitting on oak leaves near Güzelolük village (40 km N of Erdemli, SW Turkey).
