In the Mediterranean region Niphona picticornis is a relatively common and a broadly polyphagous species. Larvae feed in dead branches and trunks of Ficus, Spartium, Castanea, Ulmus, Morus, Punica, Quercus, Sambucus, Laurus, Cercis, Pistacia, Rhamnus, etc.

Adults in:	April - October
Host plant:	broadly polyphagous species
Distribution:	whole Mediterranean region

The beetles in the pictures were reared from dead branches of Ficus carica collected in Ithilo (SW Peloponnese, Greece) and Nin at Zadar (Croatia), respectively.
