Agapanthia (Epoptes) renatae, a newly described species [❖] endemic to Peloponnese (Greece), was firstly collected in Karistena environs (N37°29′10″ E22°00′30″, 450-550 m a.s.l.; Arkadias Nomos, Peloponnese, Greece) by Siegfried Steiner on May 4, 1998. The species belongs to the Agapanthia (Epoptes) asphodeli (Latreille, 1804) species group [✧].

Body length:♀♀ 12 - 20 mm / ♂♂ 12 - 18 mm
Life cycle:1 year
Adults in:May - June
Host plant:Ferula [?]
Distribution:endemic to Peloponnese (Greece)


The depicted beetles were collected by our friend Jean-Claude Ringenbach in Kalivia Skotanis / Καλύβια Σκοτανης environs (N37°49′52″ E22°04′05″, 460 m a.s.l.; Nomos Achaias, Peloponnese, Greece) on May 12, 2017.
