Callergates gaillardoti (Chevrolat, 1854) occurs in Dodecanese islands of Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. The species develops in Pinus spp. and it is often accompanied by its close relative Ergates faber (Linnaeus, 1767).

The living beetles were reared from larva feeding in dead pine trunk found in Epta Piges env. (Rhodes Island, Greece) on May 20, 2012. The mounted beetles (and specimens in low-res photos) were reared from larvae collected in Kassab N Latakia (NW Syria) in a dead decaying trunk of Pinus halepensis.Collected by Adam Woźniak and V.Čelikovský
