Pseudosphegesthes samai, described by Michail Danilevsky in 1999 [❖], is another rare species of this interesting genera from tribe Clytini. Endemic to Turkey, it seems to be morphologically and geographically intermediate between Pseudosphegesthes longitarsus Holzschuh, 1974 and Pseudosphegesthes brunnescens (Pic, 1897). Larval development, similar to another species of the genera, is in dead wood of oaks (Quercus spp.).

Body length:	♂ 7 - 11 mm / ♀ 8 - 14 mm
Life cycle:	2 years
Adults in:	May - July
Host plant:	oaks (Quercus spp.)
Distribution:	an endemic species to North Turkey

The depicted beetles were reared from larvae collected in dead oak (Quercus) branches collected in Niksar NE Tokat (N Turkey).
