This fascinating nocturnal species, endemic to Canary Islands, develops in various Euphorbia plants but also in Kleinia neriifolia. Pre-imaginal biology of the species was well described in detail by Francesco Vitali and Julien Touroult in 2006 [❖].

Adults in:December - July
Host plant:Euphorbia canariensis, Euphorbia obtusifolia, Euphorbia regis-jubae, Euphorbia handiensis, Kleinia neriifolia
Distribution:a species endemic to Canary Island (El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote)


The mounted specimens were reared from larva and pupa found in Euphorbia regis-jubae collected in Los Cristianos environs (150 m a.s.l., Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain) on June 29 - July 7, 2019. The depicted living beetles were collected in Gran Canaria and Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain).
