This interesting and very rare Caucasian member of Clytini tribe, originally described by Edmund Reitter as Clytus vesparum from Talysh in 1889 [✧], was eventually moved into a new genus Sphegoclytus [❖] estabilished by Gianfranco Sama in 2005 [✝].

The depicted beetle was captured in in Kīnj (كينج‎) village environs (1550-1600 m a.s.l., Kojur District, Nowshahr County, Mazandaran province, Iran) on May 20 -21, 2017.
