Hesperophanes sericeus is a widely distributed nocturnal species frequently attracted to light. Larvae are developing in dead wood of thick trunks or roots and pupate in the wood, species is polyphagous in many species of deciduos trees.
Body length: 20 - 28 mm Life cycle: several years Adults in: June - September Host plant: polyphagous on deciduous trees and shrubs (Juglans, Ficus, Vitis, Platanus, Quercus, etc.) Distribution: whole Mediterranean region (Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Albania, Corsica, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, Cyprus, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Turkey) and Crimea
