Deroplia genei genei, in Europe rare species developing in oak in xerothermic localities, has been described as Saperda Genéi from Ticino river valley near Turbigo "Vallis Ticini prope Turbigo" (North Italy) by Aloysius Aragona in 1830 [❖]. Larvae of D. genei genei very often if not predominatly feed in oak branches which are attacked by the Buprestidae species Coerebus florentinus or Coerebus fasciatus [✧]. Pupation after 2 years of the larval development during late summer. Adults hatch in autumn and at this time they are leaving pupal cells and hibernate at the foot of trees in forest litter. Beetles, which are active from March to June, are crepuscular / nocturnal and can be beaten from dying or dead oak branches and twigs.
