By a taxi : a stand is in front of the airport building. Ask for Faculty of Nuclear Science, Brehova 7.
The fare should not exceed Kc 550; it is advised to use the registered AIPPORT CAR firm (white Volkswagens with a Bellinda ad)
If you want to use public transport you have
to buy first tickets (Kc 12 apiece with the right of switching lines) at a newspaper stand in the airport building. There are several exchange offices in the arrival hall where you can change money; the current rate is about Kc 33 for 1 $. The commission is usually slightly higher than in the banks downtown
take the bus 119 whose terminal is in front of the building. In about 20 minutes it takes you to the subway (metro) line A, station Dejvicka
take the subway to the station Staromestska (the third stop, cca 6 minutes). Leaving the station you enter a square (Namesti J. Palacha) with a view of Prague Castle. Turn right and walk about 200 m. The second lane on your left is Brehova street; enter the building and follow the signs
Coming by train
Again, you have to buy first tickets (Kc 12 apiece with the right to change) at a newspaper stand. You can use exchange offices at the stations named below to get Czech money. It is reasonable to check the commission in case you want to exchange a larger amount.
From the Main Station (Hlavni nadrazi) take the subway line C to the next station (Muzeum), change there to the line A and proceed to the station Staromestska
From the Holesovice Station take the subway line C to Muzeum, change again to the line A to Staromestska
If you arrive at the Masaryk Station take instead metro B to Mustek, change to the line A there and go one stop again to Staromestska. There are several banks in the vicinity of the station where can also change money
From the station go to a few meters to the square with a view of Prague Castle, turn right and walk about 200 m. The second lane on your left is the place you are looking for
Coming by car
After entering Prague from any direction follow the "CENTRUM" signs. Sooner or later you will hit the Vltava river. Keep its right bank; the sought place is in the middle of a river turn. Sequences of orientation points when
coming from the south: the steel construction of a railway bridge, after 1km the large Palacky monument to your right (here you enter the map), in 500m a "dancing house", another 1km further the National Theatre building where a nice view of Prague Castle opens. At the same distance from here you drive through an arc and pass by the Charles Bridge. The next square is distinguished by the "Rudolfinum" concert hall; you pass by and turn to the second lane on your left
coming from the northeast: the "Magistral" or city highway; at the next bridge (here you enter the map) you will see a large office building with a dominating cupola. Just after it you will see a gothic monastery (Anezsky Klaster). Another 500m further you pass by the Intercontinental Hotel; cross the road leading to the bridge and turn to the first lane on your left.
The lane is very short, just one building. There are several coin-operated parking meters there (Kc 15 per hour), on Saturdays and Sundays there is no charge. If there is no place, you can use an underground parking at Rudolfinum, 300m away.
From the "Krystal" hotel
Take bus 119 or trams 20, 26 down to the metro A, use it to Staromestska, then proceed as above
From the "IPS" hotel
Walk or take bus 234 to the metro A, use it to Staromestska, then proceed as above
Hotel "Krystal"
From the Ruzyne airport
A taxi should cost at most Kc 280. It is quite easy, however, to get there by bus 119 as described above. You leave at the stop "Koospol". The next-stop names are in Prague trams and buses either announced or displayed in front of the car. An orientation point is an boxlike office building to your left, the hotel is to your right
Coming by train
Depending on your arrival station, take metro C or B to A and go to the end station Dejvicka of the latter line. There you can change either to bus 119 or to trams 20, 26. They all follow the Evropska street; you leave at the stop "Koospol"
Coming by car
If you come from Germany via Chemnitz and Chomutov, you will probably pass by the airport and enter Prague by the Evropska street. When the tram rails appear, you are about 1200m from the hotel; you will see its 15-storey building with a typical "handle" ahead. At the fourth light turn right to Jose Martiho which is a lane parallel to Evropska.
In all the other cases it is recommended to go to the city center and to follow from there the airport signs. They take you to a large round square (yes, we have such things in Prague; it is called Vitezne Namesti) from which you follow the straight Evropska street. After about 3.5 km watch for the boxlike Koospol building on your right; after it turn left at the lights.
By public transport
The same as above, take metro A to Dejvicka , then bus 119 or trams 20, 26 to Koospol
Hotel "IPS"
From the Ruzyne airport
A taxi from the airport should cost about Kc 700. If you want to use public transport, take bus 119 to metro, line A, as described above. Go to the station Strasnicka (one before the last). Leaving the subway there, you can either
cross the four-lane street V olsinach by a pedestrian tunnel and take the bus 234 to the next stop which is in front of the hotel
turning left, walk to the next crossing, there turn right. It takes about six minutes; the hotel is a fourteen-storey building seen from afar
Coming by train
Depending on your arrival station, take metro C or B to A and go by this line to Strasnicka , then proceed as above
Coming by car
The safest way is to leave the city highway at the upper end of the Wenceslas square (at the Museum building) and turn up (that is, right when coming from the south, and left from the north). Follow the straight Vinohradska street for several kilometers. A good orientation point is the new pinkbrownish and rounded "Don Giovanni" hotel. About two kilometers later the street name changes to Cernokostelecka. After the Quality Hotel you will see several rows of two-storey houses on your right. After them turn right to a small street across a park; at its end you will see the hotel
By public transport
Take metro A to Strasnicka and proceed as above. You can also go the last station, Skalka, and walk back for 6-7 minutes.
