Výběrová řízení

24. 10. 2023

Join our cutting-edge research team in Prague!

Are you an expert in van der Waals heterostructures of 2D materials? Do you have a passion for world-class research on spectroscopy and electrochemistry? We invite you to be a part of Dr. Matěj Velický's team, renowned for its groundbreaking work in 2D materials.

At our institute, we explore the fascinating world of 2D materials, focusing on their tunability and van der Waals heterostructures through various external stimuli, including electric field, strain, and light. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to delve into the investigations of excitons in both homo- and heterobilayers of 2D semiconductors. These insights will be harnessed for innovative advancements in photoelectrocatalysis. Additionally, you'll be investigating how electrocatalytic properties are influenced by the twist-angle of these materials.

Is this your ideal role? You're a perfect fit if you are:
-    driven to conduct world-class research
-    a quick learner with a knack for generating independent ideas
-    a collaborative team player with strong research integrity

We work closely with the leading 2D materials experts, Dr. Otakar Frank and Dr. Martin Kalbáč, based right here at our Institute. Our global collaborations extend to high-profile researchers in the USA, Germany, and the United Kingdom. You'll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and advanced techniques, such as tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

Our institute is a leading research facility in the Czech Republic, upholding the legacy of Nobel Prize winner J. Heyrovský and holding the HR Excellence in Research Award. Located in the beautiful city of Prague, our Institute is nestled in a vibrant hub of education, science, and culture, offering excellent transport links, diverse culinary options, and beautiful outdoor areas.

This exciting opportunity is available for up to three years and will remain open until the perfect candidate is found. For more information, please visit www.matejvelicky.com.

Requirements:
You will have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in physics, chemistry, or materials science. You will have a strong background in 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures research and a good experience in two or more of the following areas: device fabrication/transport measurements, photolithography, optical spectroscopy, electrochemistry.

You will be well versed in scientific work, driving your own research ideas, designing experiments, analysing data, forming sound conclusions, and writing manuscripts. You will have a good track-record of publishing research articles in respected journals, commensurate with your career stage.
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic colleague with a passion for fundamental science who has excellent communication skills and thrives working within a team of researchers.

Desirable criteria include experience in probe microscopy/spectroscopy techniques, micro-/nano-scale electrochemistry (SECM, SECCM), 5+ publications in high-impact journals.

To apply, please send your CV and motivation letter to recruitment@jh-inst.cas.cz, highlighting your research experience relevant to the position. Include SC2023_30  in the subject line of your email. Note that applications with a generic motivation letter, not tailored to this position, will not be considered.
