The Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ICS CAS) invites applications for a postdoctoral position within the research activity "Logics of inconsistent and incomplete information and their applications in modelling the spread of disinformation" within the DEZINFO project funded by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. The successful candidate will work within the LogICS group as part of the Theoretical Computer Science Department of the ICS CAS.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and will be expected to carry out research within the stated research activity, focusing on one or more of the following areas:

DEZINFO is a large-scale interdisciplinary project at the interface of humanities, social sciences and computer science that aims to study aspects of disinformation. The ability to interact and cooperate with other team members is considered an advantage.

Conditions:

  • Contract for 18 months with the possibility of an extension in the event of excellent performance.
  • Standard start date: 1 June 2025, somewhat flexible.
  • Monthly gross salary 59 000 CZK plus benefits.
  • Travel funding for conferences and research stays available.
  • No teaching duties.
  • The first deadline for applications is 31 March 2025. Applications received after this date will be considered until the position is filled.

Applicants should:

  • hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field or expect to obtain one by the start date.
  • Have a strong background in logic, preferably non-classical and modal logic.
  • Be fluent in English.
