The objective of the 12 th conference is to provide a forum for researchers to discuss the state-of-the-art in Mechanics of Solids, Fluids and Thermomechanics, this particularly in connection with problems under investigation in the Czech Republic. Problems of Engineering Mechanics related to the contemplated topics can be discussed, and their solutions presented, during the sessions of the Conference, held at the Hotel of the ŽĎAS, a.s., situated in the beautiful countryside of the Žďár Highlands.

The bilateral symposium shall bring together mainly young scientists, who are actively involved in experimental solid mechanics, theoretically and practically, in order to exchange experience, to report on the present state-of-art as well as on running research projects, to discuss due questions and problems and to promote the co-operation between individuals as well as between institutions. Therefore in the symposium discussions will play a highly significant role.

The fourth European & African Conference on Wind Engineering (EACWE4) represents a continuation to the series of conferences held at Guernsey 1993, Genova 1997, Eindhoven 2001. The meeting will bring together engineers, researchers, university teachers and students and will create an opportunity to exchange scientific, technical and experimental results and ideas in wind engineering.
