The RC28 conference will be held on the premises of the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University, located in the centre of Brno. The Faculty of Social Studies is one of the leading institutions of social science research and teaching in the Czech Republic.

The Faculty of Social Sciences also has an excellent library at your disposal. RC28 participants will be able to make use of the computer room (with Internet access) in the library. The study rooms of the library are open M-Th 9am-9pm, Fridays 9am-5pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm, and is closed on Sundays. Masaryk University was founded in January 1919, not long after the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state. By the 1920s, the university played a leading role in the scientific, cultural and social life of the country.

 

Today, Masaryk University is the second largest Czech university and the largest in Moravia. It is comprised of nine faculties with more than 200 departments, institutes and clinics. It is one of the most significant educational and scientific institutions in the Czech Republic and is a recognized Central European university with democratic traditions going back to its founding in 1919. It is also has a strong influence on the social and cultural life of South Moravia.

The university is intensively engaged in the mobility activities and research programs of the European Union and other countries, through which students who have received their bachelor’s or master’s degree at other universities can continue their studies at the master’s or doctoral level at Masaryk University. In the same way, Masaryk University students have the possibility of studying abroad, and later coming back to their home university.
