Subject of research
The above objectives will be achieved by means of the following research activities: 1) Measuring and evaluation of soil water, groundwater, and surface runoff state variables in the selected watersheds in Šumava Mts. and Jizera Mts; 2) Performing laboratory infiltration/outflow experiments on undisturbed soil columns to determine soil hydraulic properties by means of inverse modeling; 3) Numerical modeling of local soil water system responses to individual rainfall events based on hydraulic charakteristics obtained from laboratory columnexperiments; 4) Quantitative description of soil water regime at the field scale; Identification of the principal attributes of the soil water regime, useful for its characterization under specific soil and vegetation conditions; 5) Prediction of the possible changes of the soil water regime due to the expected conversion of the land use in highland areas, after the admission of the Czech Repiblic to EU.
