How to Apply for Czech Visa

To participate in the UNESCO/IUPAC Postgraduate Course in Polymer Science in the beautiful city of Prague, you will need student visa for over 90 days. The average time the authorities need to issue the student visa is about 3 months.

In most countries, the Czech consulates ask the applicants to present a crime report. This certificate is issued by police of your country and it can take several weeks to get it. This might delay your application.

Therefore MAKE YOUR FIRST CONTACT WITH THE EMBASSY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE !!

Keep in mind – summer time is a time of vacations. This might delay your visa process since you need several institutions to proceed.

Here are some useful hints how to apply and obtain the visa soon:

1/ When you are accepted for the course, the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry in Prague will send you a package of official documents (in Czech and English). These documents must accompany your visa application:

BLANK APPLICATION FORM (HAVE 2 PHOTOS READY)
LETTER OF INVITATION from the Director of Institute indicating clearly that you will have monthly stipend during your stay
STUDY - Confirmation from UNESCO Office in Prague that you are accepted for student position at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry
ACCOMMODATION – Certificate issued by Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry that your accommodation is granted by the Institute including the address of your hotel in Prague
HEALTH INSURANCE – A letter from Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic granting your health insurance during the course
SPECIAL CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY HOST INSTITUTION – Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic – this is a supporting document

To prepare these documents, we need from you:

Correct spelling of your name as stated in your passport – please send us a scan of the title passport page as a digital file
Your date of birth
Number of your passport
Your nationality, permanent address and address of your institution/workplace

2/ Before you visit the Czech Consulate Office in your country to apply for student visa, consult its web side.
