The Institute of Mathematics, founded in
1947, is the leading research institute for mathematics outside the
university structure in the Czech Republic. The Institute performs
advanced research in mathematics and theoretical computer science,
collaborates intensively with other academic institutions in the
country and worldwide, contributes essentially
to sustaining the high level of mathematical research in our country,
transfers modern mathematical knowledge, thinking, and methods to
society via applications and education. The Institute of Mathematics is
a part of Academy of Sciences of the Czech

Dr. Michal Koucký received Otto Wichterle's Premium administered by Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
- On March 10, 2009 dr. Jana Bočková and Anna Nováčková received a letter of appreciation
from the President of the Academy of Sciences Prof. Václav Pačes in recognition
of their devout work for the Institute.
- On February 26, 2009 dr. Pavel Krejčí, CSc. was named director of the Institute of Mathematics, effective of May 1, 2009.
