we would like to inform you that the Government of the Czech Republic agreed upon severe budget cuts in the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (AS CR), a part of which our institute constitutes. The budget of AS CR will be lowered by 20% in 2010 relative to this year, and even more up to a 48% reduction in 2012. It is important to note that the proposed cuts are not directly related to the global economy crisis, as the total budget for science in the Czech Republic does not drop. Rather they are results of a flawed and awkward system of evaluating scientific outputs, which tries to express the whole scientific production of institutions in one single number and overrates weak application-oriented unverifiable outputs. It is no doubt that such a reduction will result in the abolishment of the Academy of Sciences; therefore, it is quite likely that the web pages you are just entering will cease to exist in a fairly short time, together with the Institute of Atmospheric Physics itself. Vážený návštěvníku našich webových stránek,

rádi bychom Vás informovali, že Vláda ČR schválila drastické rozpočtové škrty v Akademii věd (AV) ČR, jejíž je náš ústav součástí. Rozpočet AV ČR v r. 2010 bude o 20% nižší než v letošním roce, pokles v r. 2012 má být dokonce o 48%. Přitom je třeba zdůraznit, že navržené škrty nesouvisí s globální ekonomickou krizí, neboť celkový rozpočet na vědu v ČR neklesá. Jsou však výsledkem podivného a nerovného způsobu hodnocení výsledků výzkumu, jenž se snaží vyjádřit celkovou vědeckou produkci ústavů a institucí jediným číslem a přitom nadhodnocuje "měkké" neověřitelné aplikačně orientované výstupy. Taková redukce je jednoznačně likvidační; je proto dost dobře možné, že tyto webové stránky v poměrně krátké době zaniknou spolu s celým Ústavem fyziky atmosféry.
