The annual German Conference on Bioinformatics is organized on behalf of the Special Interest Group on Informatics in Biology of the German Society of Computer Science (GI) in cooperation with the German Society of Chemical Technique and Biotechnology (Dechema) and the German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM). The conference is an excellent opportunity to present cutting edge bioinformatics research - new methods as well as applications - to a multi-disciplinary audience. The GCB especially invites contributions from outside Germany.
The conference language will be English.
Areas of interest at the GCB include:
Sequence Analysis and Comparative Genomics Analysis of Functional Genomics Data Structural Bioinformatics RNA/DNA Structure Molecular Interactions and Drug Design Systems Biology Biochemical and Genetic Networks
The focus is not limited to specific computational techniques or biological applications. Scientists applying bioinformatics in life science related research are especially encouraged to present their work at the GCB.
Location:
GCB 2007 will take place from 26-28 September 2007 at the Kongresshotel am Templiner See, Am Luftschiffhafen 1, 14471 Potsdam
Dates:
Submission of contributions (Papers, Software Demos): May 02, 2007 Notification of acceptance: June 25, 2007 Final version due: July 16, 2007 Poster abstracts submission: August 06, 2007 Early registration deadline: August 06, 2007
The GCB allows submissions of the following types:
Long Papers: Long Papers should have up to ten pages and will be published in the conference proceedings (published in the "Lecture Notes in Informatics" series of Gesellschaft für Informatik). They will be judged by quality, originality, and relevance. The program committee may select up to ten outstanding papers for publication in Bioinformatics (fast track).
Short Papers: Short Papers should report on recent biological findings obtained with computational means. They should be submitted as an abstract of at most two pages (including references) and will be judged by the importance and novelty of the findings and relevance to the conference audience. Selected Short Papers will be chosen for oral presentation at GCB. Short Papers will appear in a separate abstract book so that subsequent publication of the findings in a biological journal is not impeded.
Poster Abstracts: Posters should present recent scientific work in any of the areas specified above. Poster abstracts should not exceed one page including references. Abstracts of accepted posters will appear in a separate abstract book.
Submissions will only be accepted electronically.
Submission will open in April 2007.
