The annual Eduard Hala Lectures have been established in 1999. The lectures are delivered by renowned specialists in topics studied at the Institute.
The First Hala Lecture (on the occasion of his eightieth birthday) - "Remembering Eduard Hala" - was presented on 8 October 1999 by Professor Arnost Reiser from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn NY, USA.
The Second Hala Lecture - "Membrane Fuel Cell Systems: A Challenge for Chemical Engineers" - was presented on 10 November 2000 by Professor Gerhart Eigenberger from University of Stuttgart, Germany.
The Third Hala Lecture - "The Measurement of Symmetry and Chirality: Concept and Applications across Chemistry" was presented on 2 November 2001 by Professor David Avnir from Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel.
The Fourth Hala Lecture - "Macroscopic- and Microscopic-Level Thermodynamics: Partners in Chemical Engineering Progress" was presented on 20 January 2003 by Professor William R. Smith from University of Guelph, Canada.
The Fifth Hala Lecture - "Economy, Ecology and Thermodynamics" was presented on 20 February 2004 by Professor Jakob de Swaan Arons from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
The Sixth Hala Lecture - "Reactivity, Stored Energy, and Dislocations in Solid Reacting Systems" was presented on 6 January 2005 by Professor Vladimir Hlavacek from State University of New York, Buffalo, USA.
The Seventh Hala Lecture - "In the Frame Globalization and Sustainability: Evolution of Chemical and Process Engineering – Progression from Commodities to New Specialties and Active Material Chemistry" was presented on 4 November 2005 by Professor Jean-Claude Charpentier, President of European Federation of Chemical Engineering.
The Eighth Hala Lecture - "Trends in research and preparation of technical intelligence with special regard to chemical engineers (in Slovak) " was presented on 3 November 2006 by Professor Vladimir Bales from Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava, Slovakia.
The Nineth Hala Lecture - "Development of efficient multiphoton processes and their application to the studies of short-lived intermediates" was presented on 6 August 2007 by Professor Akihiro Ouchi from National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) Tsukuba, Japan.
The Tenth Hala Lecture - "“Soft material” surface engineering: from flexible to gradient surfaces" was presented on 10 October 2008 by Professor Jan Genzer from North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC, USA.
On this occasion, the bust of Professor E. Hala was unveiled in the entrance hall of the ICPF.
