Projects
The Nonlinear Dynamics Workgroup actively collaborates with several European partners.
EC FP6 NEST BRACCIA
The 6th Framework Programme BRACCIA is focused on investigating changes in the major subsystems of the human organism (the brain, the lungs and the heart) which occurr under general anesthesia as opposed to the waking state. The tools and concepts applied come from the theory of weakly coupled nonlinear or chaotic oscillators. The NDW workgroup was charged with developing algorithms to process the measured time series. More details are available on the project page.
EC FP7 BrainSynch
The main objective of the BrainSynch project is to understand how neuronal assemblies exchange information and how variability in neuronal communication explains variability in behaviour in the healthy and injured brain. Different types of brain activity will be measured and analyzed such as fMRI, MEG, LFP, MUA. More detail is available on the local project page.
HPC-Europa
The EU project HPC-Europa offers scientists from eligible countries transnational access to some of the top EU high performance computing infrastructures in 6 countries (Germany, France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom and The Netherlands). Members of the NDW workgroup have visited the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre to perform large scale studies on model systems to test the effectivity of interaction analysis algorithms.
